ABSTRACT

The constant spread of tourism on a global scale in recent years, as well as the incessant birth of new forms of tourism and new types of tourists with new needs, which are better informed (thanks to the use of internet and technological tools), and are increasingly demanding, has led to the emergence of a wide range of accommodation.

Among these accommodations, the villas have generated some controversy regarding its regulation, and for this reason, we have focused our Final Degree Project on this subject.

Throughout this work it has been analyzed, in particular, the current situation of the island of Lanzarote, identifying the problems generated by this new form of accommodation and its classification. In addition, it has been also examined the territorial distribution of the villas, used as tourist housing, usually commercialized through web pages, metasearch engine or online portals.
